CULTURE & CIVILISATION

PROJECT 1: BACK TO OUR ROOTS

In this first project, we were divided into a group of two and were required to produce a graphic time-line with a family tree and also an infographic board representing one of our family culture and traditions. However, we have to produce a video of us conducting an interview to find out the details of the family history before starting on that.

I was in the same group with Claire Zhuang Zhi Jie for this project. We had a discussion regarding on which family we want to work on and came into conclusion that we decided to work on Claire Zhuang's family instead due to her family stays at Kajang which is much nearer compared to mine. Below shows the graphical timeline and the family tree:

PROJECT 2: PROJECT RUNWAY

There is two parts for this second project.

PART A is to produce a group project where we were to conduct research on the given movie and would be required to showcase our understanding on elements such as the culture, social strata, architecture, and style. The outcome of this research would be showcased through a runway show and a scene act out from the movie. In this case, my group consisted of 7 people in total which includes, Nicole Hooi Yi Tien, Claire Zhuang Zhi Jie, Krystle Ong Rui Xin, Chong Lai Mun, Chung Wei Jin and Lim Pui Yee and we have chosen the movie, Cleopatra for this project.

PART 2 is an individual task where I was to produce a journal on the character chosen, which is Cleopatra herself. This task required me to demonstrate my understanding on the character, Cleopatra and her elements in Part A. Overall, this project is to examine the similarities and differences between Western and Eastern civilisation.

PROJECT 3: COFFEETABLE BOOK

This project is divided into two parts:

Part 1, we are to come up with a site route in a group of five. This route has to be related to the theme and concept that was initiated. After that, we will have to follow the route to take a collection of photographs which is an individual task and then compile it into a coffee table book.

As for Part 2, from the route we have come up with, we have to produce a A5 journal which include the route that we took and the process of it.

In this final project, I have group up with Edward Cheng, Lim Pui Yee, Nicole Hooi and Low Yong Ging. We have chose Ipoh as our destination and made our theme 'Ipoh- A Remarkable Old Town'. We chose this theme due to the reason where we wanted to capture things beyong our sight in Ipoh. As for the location itself, it is because we all are very familiar with Ipoh culture due to all of us are from Ipoh. For my individual part, I have chose to do the theme 'Charms' for the overall coffee table. I have included selected photographs of the secluded places where not many has discovered and labelled it as the charms of Ipoh, then compile them in collages as my purpose for it is to tell stories of each places.

Below are the compilation of our coffee table book:
